Since reading Escape from Mr. Lemencello’s Library, Chris Grabenstein’s other book, I had high expectations. I have to admit that I was disappointed. The characters didn’t feel as fresh and didn’t have me cheering for them that much. I also thought that the writing flowed better in the other book. For these reasons, I somewhat enjoyed the book and will give this book a rating of Choose It!-Leave It!
This book also wasn’t as original because it shared a lot of characteristics with the author’s other book. There was an eccentric book-loving man, a boy who knows a surprising amount about books considering he doesn’t read much, and books.
However there were many interesting facts and humorous dialogues interspersed throughout the book, which made the book more fun to read.
