Top Ten Tuesday: New-To-Me Favorite Authors I Read For The First Time In 2015

Top Ten Tuesdays are a weekly meme hosted by The Broke and the Bookish. The topic of December 8, 2015 is: Top Ten New-To-Me Favorite Authors I Read For The First Time In 2015.

Here’s the list:

Top Ten Tuesday

1. Josephine Angelini

I only just finished reading Trial by Fire, but it is an amazing read complete with unique characters and world.

2. Cassandra Clare

Cassandra Clare is a fantastic writer who’s developed the intriguing world of the Shadowhunters. In 2015, I read The Mortal Instruments and The Infernal Devices.

Reviews: Clockwork Angel

3. Laura Hillenbrand

I don’t often read non-fiction, but Laura Hillenbrand’s biography Unbroken was a fabulous read.

4. Stephen King

I’ve never read any of Stephen King’s horror books and I’m not sure if I ever will. However I did read Stephen King’s memoir On Writing and it is a great read for all writers.

5. Claire Legrand

I honestly cannot remember where I first learned of Claire Legrand’s Winterspell, but it was a great dark fantasy retelling of the Nutcracker.

6. Marie Lu

I’ve never read Marie Lu’s Legend trilogy, but I have read the first two books in her Young Elites trilogy and enjoyed them both.

Reviews: The Young Elites, The Rose Society

7. Sarah J. Maas

By far, Sarah J. Maas is one of my favorite authors along with Cassandra Clare. She develops a strong protagonist in Aelin/Celaena and an interesting fantasy world that both make for a beyond  amazing read.

Reviews: The Assassin’s Blade, Throne of Glass, Crown of Midnight, Heir of Fire

 8. Christopher Paolini

Over the summer, I read Christopher Paolini’s The Inheritance Cycle and thoroughly enjoyed it. The series reminded me a bit of Lord of the Rings, but I found it easier to read.

Reviews: Eragon, Eldest, Brisingr, Inheritance

9. Ransom Riggs

Ransom Rigg’s Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children trilogy is complete and I’ve read all of the books. It’s definitely an original story with vintage black and white photographs in the book to aid the story.

Reviews: Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children

10. Sabaa Tahir

In the summer, I read An Ember in the Ashes and enjoyed the action-packed plot. I can’t wait for A Torch Against the Night to come out!

Reviews: An Ember in the Ashes
