The TBR Book Tag

I was tagged by the Quirky Book Nerd to do the TBR Book Tag. Thank you for the tag!

How do you keep track of your TBR pile?

I use GoodReads sometimes, but mostly I use it to archive my progress in reading. I guess that I use my TBR posts as a reminder to myself of what I want to read next.

Is your TBR mostly print or e-book?

Most of my TBR’s are print because I like paper books better. However Cassandra Clare’s Tales from Shadowhunter Academy novellas are only on e-book and I really love her books–also that series is about nine books, which is a good bit of my TBR.

How do you determine which book from your TBR to read next?

Normally I read which ever book I either have on my hands at the moment or the one that sounds most interesting.

A book that’s been on your TBR the longest?

The Elements of Style by William Strunk Jr. and E.B. White has been on my TBR for a very long time and I still haven’t read it.

A book you recently added to your TBR?

The Wrath and the Dawn by Renee Andieh.

A book on your TBR strictly because of its beautiful cover?

The cover of Winterspell by Claire Legrand looks so mysterious and foreboding that I was immediately interested. Plus the quote from Marissa Meyer refers to a darker version of the Nutcracker, which interested me.

A book on your TBR that you never plan on reading?

Seabiscuit by Laura Hillenbrand? I read Unbroken by Laura Hillenbrand and liked it, but I already have such a long TBR and generally I prefer fiction…

An unpublished book on your TBR that you’re excited for?

An unpublished book on my TBR that I’m excited for would probably be Lady Midnight by Cassandra Clare

Snow Like Ashes by Sara Raasch. I only got to about page sixty-two before I had to return it to the library.

A book on your TBR that everyone recommends to you?

Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo, so I’m finally going to begin reading it.

Top Ten Tuesday: Debut Authors Who Have Me Looking Forward to Their Sophomore Novels

Top Ten Tuesdays are a weekly meme hosted by The Broke and the Bookish. The topic of November 3, 2015 is: Top Ten Debut Authors Who Have Me Looking Forward To Their Sophomore Novels.

Here are the top ten debut authors who have me looking forward to their sophomore novels:

Top Ten Tuesday

1. Sabaa Tahir: I am definitely looking forward to the author of An Ember in the Ashes‘ sophomore novel: A Torch Against the Night.

2. Renee Andieh: I’ve only read a few pages of The Wrath and the Dawn, but they were very good. So I guess I’m looking forward to The Rose and the Dagger.

3.  Sara Raasch: So far, I’ve only read a quarter of Snow Like Ashes, but I’m still excited to read Ice Like Fire.

Now I’ve run out of authors who sophomore novels I’m anticipating, so the next seven books are second novels that I loved as much as the first book.

4. Veronica Roth: Insurgent is an amazing sequel to Divergent.

5. Sarah J. Maas: Crown of Midnight is definitely equal to the first novel, Throne of Glass.

6. Cassandra Clare: I have read Clockwork Angel, but I’ve not read the sequel.

7. Suzanne Collins: The Hunger Games and Catching Fire were both great books,

8. Christopher Paolini: Eragon‘s sequel, Eldest, was just as good. I think I actually liked Eldest a little better, which is unusual since normally I like the first books best.

9. Marie Lu: I gave The Young Elites‘ sequel, The Rose Society, the same rating because there were similar pro’s and con’s.

10.  Rick RiordanI liked The Son of Neptune just as much as The Lost Hero.

Do you participate in Top Ten Tuesdays? Who are ten debut authors whose sophomore novels you anticipate? Feel free to post a link to your Top Ten Tuesday in the comments.

The Book Courtship Book Tag

Thank you to Aira @ AiraReads for the tag! Here’s the tag:

Phase 1 – Initial Attraction: A book that you bought because of the cover?

The cover captured my attention first. What is the girl holding? I asked myself. Then the plot synopsis finally reigned me in enough that I ordered the book on Amazon.

Phase 2 – First Impressions: A book that you got because of the summary?

I forgot where I initially was introduced to Snow Like Ashes in the blogosphere, but I remember being really captivated by the plot synopsis and the cover. Unfortunately, I did not finish it in time before I had to return it to the library.

Phase 3 – Sweet Talk: A book with great writing?

I was actually pleasantly surprised with how much I enjoyed the writing of this book. Somehow, the author managed to give sufficient description that I could easily visualize what was unfolding without overwhelming me with description.

Phase 4 – First Date: A first book of a series which made you want to pick up the rest of the series?

Phase 5 – Late Night Phone Calls: A book that kept you up all night?

I know everything got nicely wrapped up in the epilogue,  but the ending was still haunting somehow.
